Localiza believes it is the largest car rental network in South America in number of branches, its integrated platform is comprised by Car and Fleet Rental Divisions and an efficiency area responsible for selling the used cars --Seminovos. The Car Rental Division is responsible for renting cars in branches located in airports and off airport locations. Rentals are carried out by companies, individuals on business or leisure, ride-hailing drivers, as well by for insurance companies and automakers which offer replacement cars to their customers in the case of accidents or mechanical breakdowns during the term of the insurance policy or warranty, respectively. The Franchising area is responsible for franchising the Car Rental in Brazil and South America. The Fleet Rental Division outsources fleets to companies based on long-term contracts. Its fleet is customized according to the needs and requests of its customers. In 2020, it launched Localiza Meoo, a long-term subscription car model for individuals and small and medium-size companies. Due to the constant need for fleet renewal, Localiza disposes its used cars that are mostly sold directly to final consumers at stores intended for such sales called Seminovos. As a result, the Company maximizes the recovery value of such assets, reducing depreciation of the cars and the net investment in fleet renewal, since selling expenses incurred at its own car dealer chain is lower than the discounts required by resellers.

Products and services

Our activities are divided into two operating segments, denominated internally as "Divisions", being: (i) Car Rental Division, which includes a franchising area responsible for franchising the brand Localiza Rent a Car in Brazil and South America; and (ii) Fleet Rental Division. As part of the rental cycle, Localiza decommission its cars that are sold through our own network, directly to final consumer or to wholesalers. Car Rental: Our activity in the Car Rental segment comprises the providing of short-term (daily, weekly, or monthly) car or light commercial vehicles rentals to individuals and corporations in strategically located branches both downtown as well as at airports. Fleet Rental: Responsible for long-term contracts with companies or individuals, generally of 24 to 36 months. In this business, our service encompasses the individualized study of the customer needs, involving the sizing, optimum makes and models of the fleet considering the type of use and includes acquisition, adaptation, rental, maintenance, liscencing,car replacement, and car selling.
