Products and services

Capstone’s microturbines are compact, lightweight, and environmentally friendly generators of electricity and heat. Operating on the same principle as a jet engine, they utilize various commercially available fuels, including low BTU gas and high-sulfur sour gas. Fuel sources include methane from wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and anaerobic digesters. This multi-fuel capability gives us a competitive edge in key vertical markets, with only fuel injectors differing between liquid and gaseous fuels. Our microturbines feature four key design elements: Advanced Combustion Technology: Achieves low emissions certified by CARB for stringent 2007 standards, comparable to fuel cells and central power plants, eliminating permitting requirements in many areas. Patented Air Bearing Technology: Enables power generation without petroleum-based lubricants, improving reliability and reducing maintenance. Digital Power Electronics: Manages speed, temperature, fuel flow, and seamless grid or standalone operations for high efficiency, low emissions, and uninterrupted critical load support. Remote Monitoring Software: Allows flexible, cost-effective remote operation and management. Our controls utilize proprietary algorithms to optimize performance, coordinate grid operations, and enable multiple-unit configurations for installations requiring multi-MW capacity.
